When Emily invited me to join the remix of her new pattern book called, Geared For Guys, I jumped at the chance to do it. Have you seen this cute book? It's a must have! it's not just quilts for guys, you can make each of these a little bit girly!
Ivy League is the first quilt in the book and I love the quote that goes with it! "A mind once stretched by a new idea never regains it's original dimensions." - Unknown. I've never have cut a quilt quite like this. I have to say it was a bit intimidating, but once I got it going and measured with my ruler the correct way it wasn't that hard of quilt to cut or put together. I apologize for the bad pictures, but my camera has been acting up so I had to use my iphone. I will try to retake some new ones and repost after it has been quilted. I didn't get it to the quilter's yet.
Here is a full view of the quilt top. I just love how the purple colorway just pops the quilt top. This is from Dress Up Days. Here is a close up of the blocks.
I did notice that you need to pin the blocks well so that all the points meet.
Here it's showing the quilt even more. Come back later and see better pictures that will do it justice after i get it quilted! I do believe this book is worth getting and there are tons of quilts that you should try out. You can buy her Geared for Guys quilt book, featuring this pattern and 7 others, from her etsy shop, and she has a digital version as well (no shipping!). Follow along for the next 10+ days as ten more quilters (plus Shannon, yesterday) show off their versions of Emily’s patterns in the Geared for Guys Remix tour. Check out their blogs for some additional inspiration!
